CBAC POOL POLICIES:
- Anyone who has or has had diarrhea in the past two (2) weeks shall not use the pool.
- Anyone who has an area of exposed sub epidermal tissue, open blisters, cuts, etc. is advised not to use the pool.
- State law requires that persons shall take a cleansing shower before using the pool.
- Spitting, spouting of water, blowing the nose, and similar behavior in the pool is prohibited.
- No running or rough play is permitted in the pool, on the runways, on diving boards, on floats, on platforms, in dressing rooms, or in showers.
- Swimsuits are required. No cut-offs, gym shorts or other attire is allowed. Changing clothes on deck is prohibited.
- No street shoes are permitted on the deck.
- All diaper aged children shall use plastic pants with tight fitting elastic at the legs and waist, or swim diapers.
- Do not change diapers at poolside.
- Children/dependents under 18 must be accompanied and directly supervised by a parent or guardian (18 years or older) holding a valid IU identification card or membership, Daily/Weekly Pass, or valid Conference Bureau Name Badge.
- Participants may not enter the pool until a Recreational Sports Lifeguard is on duty and instructions of the lifeguard must be obeyed at all times.
- Lifeguards will make final decisions concerning the safety of all participants in the pool area.
- If the lifeguards blow their whistles, stop what you are doing and follow their instructions.
- In the event of an injury, an accident, or you are not feeling well, please notify a Lifeguard immediately.
- Intoxication and profanity are prohibited.
- Only US Coast Guard approved life jackets will be allowed and swimming aids are only allowed in the shallow area of the lap swimming pool. No other type of flotation device will be allowed.
- Kickboards, pull buoys and Aqua Joggers are training aids and may not be used as flotation devices.
- Use of the trampoline, dryland diving boards, harnesses, and hot tub is not permitted by Recreational Sports participants.
- No diving into the competition pool. Use of starting blocks is prohibited for recreational use.
- Lane lines should be used only as safety lines in case of an emergency.
- No glass containers, food or drink (except water in plastic bottles) are permitted in the pool area.
- Only towels, deck footwear, and items necessary for swimming are allowed on deck. All other personal belongings must be stored in a locker. During activity, please keep unused equipment near poolside and out of the way of participants on the deck.
- Goggles, kickboards, pull buoys, fins and stroke paddles are allowed. Please return all Recreational Sports equipment to the storage bin.
- All equipment in the equipment storage container is the property of Indiana University Division of Recreational Sports and should only be used in the pool area.
- Lap Swimming will follow a circular pattern, swimming on the right-hand side of the lane at all times except to pass. Please try to pass another swimmer at the wall.
CBAC DIVING WELL POLICIES:
- Participants in the Diving Well must be able to swim the width of the pool.
- Diving board and platform participants must leave the board/platform facing the water. Backward and inward dives are not permitted.
- Only one bounce per dive is allowed on the springboards. There are no practice bounces allowed. No gymnastic activity (i.e. cartwheel or head and hand stands) is allowed.
- Recreational Sports participants may only use the diving boards/platforms (1&3) closest to the center of the pool.
- Use of the diving boards and platform or lap swimming during Group Exercise sessions and other organized activities is prohibited.
- While the diving boards and platforms are in use, no other activity is permitted in that area of the diving well.
- Running on the platforms is not permitted.
- In the event of an injury, an accident, or you are not feeling well, please notify a Lifeguard immediately
STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY

No medical or ambulance expense incurred by a participant will be paid by Campus Recreational Sports or by the University. Participation is on a voluntary basis. It is recommended that all participants undergo a prior physical examination and carry some form of health and injury insurance. If an injury does occur, it should be reported to the nearest Recreational Sports staff member. In the event that blood is involved in an injury, that person cannot continue to participate until the wound is properly cleaned and dressed; any clothing with blood should be removed.
Occupancy Capacity = 1,656 or 330/court. This policy is calculated for standing only
- Dunking, grabbing, hanging on rims or nets, or hand in the “cylinder” is not permitted due to safety and maintenance concerns. Violators will be subject to a disciplinary process and asked to leave the facility immediately.
- Kicking or throwing of a basketball and/or other equipment towards the ceiling and/or track is not permitted. Violators will be asked to leave the facility immediately and will be billed for the damages.
- Verbal and/or physical abuse towards an employee of Campus Recreational Sports or Recreational Sports participant will result in immediate dismissal from the facility, with possible one-year suspension of all Recreational Sports privileges and the possibility of expulsion from the University and legal charges filed.
- Abuse of property will not be tolerated. Violators may be subject to disciplinary process and asked to leave the facility immediately.
- No food or glass containers are allowed past the turnstiles.
- Basketball Challenge Court Policy: Printed on the south baseline of each court are the numbers 1, 2, 3... These numbers specify the order in which challenges will be accepted. Number 1 is the first priority. One member from each team must be on the numbered spot in order to play the winners. Challenge court scoring is 1 and 2-point baskets, play to 15, and win by 2.
- Court 2 is the women’s priority court during all Informal Sport hours. Four women are needed to play a half-court game and eight for a full-court game. If a game is in progress, the teams will be allowed 5 minutes to finish their game. During Intramural basketball season, 8 people are needed for a full-court game; half-court policy is not in effect.
- Half-Court Rights: Players may continue to use a basket until 8 or more want to play a full-court game.
- Court #3 is a Volleyball priority court. A minimum of 4 volleyball players are needed to play volleyball. Any basketball game being played will be given 5 minutes to finish. Please notify the Informal Sports Supervisor and they will notify the basketball players that they must finish their game. All times other than Intramural Basketball season, the volleyball net will remain set up for informal play.
- Clothing and equipment must be hung up or locked up and is not to be placed under the basketball goals. Items placed on the floors will be taken to the Member Services lost and found for reclaiming. Recreational Sports is not responsible for any lost or stolen personal items.
- A receptacle is available next to the water fountains for spitting purposes. Do not spit on the floor or in the garbage cans.
- Only non-marking gym shoes will be allowed unless you are a spectator.
- Dust mops are available to assist in the cleaning of debris from the floor. Please return them to the hooks when finished.
- In the event of an injury or accident, please press the EMERGENCY PANEL button once for medical attention and/ or seek assistance from the nearest on-site Recreational Sports employee.

- The track direction changes daily. Follow the signs for the appropriate direction.
- Inside Lane: Walking | Middle Lane: Jogging | Outside Lane: Running.
- The courtesy rule of passing is recommended. A jogger should say, “Passing on your left [or right],” and look behind to make sure no other runners are coming before making a pass.
- Stretching and warm-up exercises are to occur in the stretching area on the right hand side as you enter the track area.
- Due to potential safety hazards, do not stand on track to watch basketball. No one is allowed to stand on or block any lanes of the track.
- Children under 18 years of age are NOT permitted on the cardio equipment located next to the track – even if accompanied by an adult.
- Personal possessions should be stored in a locker. Recreational Sports is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- No food or glass containers are allowed past the turnstiles. All drinks must be kept in a sealed container.

- Strollers are not permitted on the track.

- Athletic shoes covering the entire foot must be worn at all times. Open-toed and open-heeled shoes and sandals are not permitted.
- Badminton nets and standards will be set up and taken down by Facility Support staff. Please contact the Participant Associate to have equipment set up for informal use. Badminton equipment is available for use at the Equipment Checkout desk on the lower level.
- Prior to participation in any Group Exercise session, participants should sign the “Participation Waiver” provided by the leader.
- Dependents under 18 years of age are not permitted to participate in Group Exercise sessions. They must be under direct supervision at all times when in MS I and MS III for any other reason. 5. Dust mops are available to assist in the cleaning of debris from the floor. Please return them to the hooks when finished.

- Eye guards are recommended in order to reduce the chance of eye injuries and are available for check-out at the Equipment Desk.
- Shirts that cover the chest are required as a common courtesy and for safety.
- Clothing, equipment, and other items, should be placed in a locker, not on the court, the overlooking ledge, or outside the door. Recreational Sports is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- No food or glass containers are allowed past the turnstiles.
- Dependents under 18 years of age must be supervised by an adult at all times to utilize the racquetball/ squash/wallyball courts.
- Reservations: Courts for racquetball, squash, table tennis, or wallyball are available by reservation up to 24 hours prior to play. Courts must be claimed within 5 minutes of the reserved starting time or the reservation will be forfeited. Failure to present a valid I.D. will result in forfeiture of the reservation (call 855-7772, or stop by the Member Services Suite, SRSC 115 to make a reservation).
- Courts may not be reserved after the 5 minute grace period has expired. If 5 minutes has passed and someone is playing on a court, that same court may not be reserved at that moment to displace the current players.
- Individuals must check in at SRSC 115 to claim their reserved court before proceeding to the turnstile.
- The official clock is located on the wall between courts 3 and

- When time has expired at the end of a reserved time period, please use common courtesy by knocking on the door to signal the time turnover. Do not enter the court until the participants open the door.
- Racquetball Challenge Court Policy – Courts 1&2:
- Each game will be played to 11 points.
- Each player is limited to stay on the court for 3 games maximum, and then they must leave and enter their name on the bottom of the list.
- Games where opponents score less than 5 points do not count toward the 3 game limit.
- Cut-Throat and Doubles are allowed only if in agreement with the next player on the list (3 game limit still applies).
- Opponents may require that eye protection be worn on the court.
- Only clean, non-marking athletic shoes are allowed on the courts.
- Racquet sports, wallyball, and table tennis equipment are available for checkout from the Equipment Checkout desk located on the lower level.
- Wallyball is available on courts 1 – 3.
- Table Tennis may be set up with the assistance of Facility Support in courts 4 and 5. 16. Squash is the only activity allowed on courts 11 & 12. No table tennis permitted on Courts 11 & 12.
