JILL’S STORY Jill Behrman was an IU student and an employee of Recreational Sports. In May of 2000, Jill left for a solo bike ride and never came back. Three years later, it was discovered that she had been murdered. In October 2000, the JB5K was created to keep the memory of Jill alive and to bring awareness to issues of violence in our community. Proceeds from the Color the Campus Walk/Run benefit the Jill Behrman Emerging Leader Scholarship, personal safety workshops, and Campus Recreational Sports programs for IUB students.  JILL BEHRMAN EMERGING LEADER SCHOLARSHIP  This award consists of two $1,000 scholarships, recognizing the achievements of undergrad students who meet the following criteria: • At least sophomore standing with a minimum of one year involvement within Campus Recreational Sports. • Be a full-time, undergraduate student enrolled in any baccalaureate program at Indiana University. • Have a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5. • Demonstrated leadership, character and civic responsibility at Indiana University through involvement in Campus Recreational Sports, University and community organizations. • Exhibit universally important ethical values such as respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. • Exhibit a willingness to go above and beyond expectations in service to Campus Recreational Sports, Indiana University and/or the community. • Demonstrated initiative, character, need, and scholastic achievement of potential candidates are also considered. • Scholarship Reference Forms commenting on the candidate’s leadership, character, and commitment to civic responsibility must be submitted from: o One Recreational Sports representative and  o One person from Indiana University outside of Recreational Sports
