Accessibility within Programs
To provide opportunities to increase strength, maintain flexibility, decrease stress, or have fun with friends, the Group Exercise program offers a variety of format options to meet goals, skill levels, and needs of participants that come into our studios. Our team of intentionally trained staff build sessions designed to give participants autonomy in choosing intensity level throughout the session. All you need is your ID and a water bottle, we’ve got the rest of the equipment necessary for your workout! Please connect with us to discuss questions about sessions, where to start, or to discuss formats and connect with a Leader to try your first session.
Intramural Sports are open to all registered IU students, Faculty, and Staff. We believe that a thriving recreational community is one where everyone can play no matter your skill level. Our intramural sports program is dedicated to breaking down barriers by providing adaptive recreation options and individualized accommodations for participants of all ability levels. Please connect with us to discuss how we can best support your play.
Club Sports are open to all registered IU Students. Many of our clubs have different levels of participation, and even if you do not want to compete you can join and partake in the sport in a multitude of different ways with clubs offering practices, internships, and even coaching opportunities! Some clubs are extremely adaptive friendly such as the Martial Arts organizations, as well as the Adaptive Sports club. Please connect with us if you have questions.
The IU Tennis Center is accessible! Student and faculty/staff may purchase a membership to enjoy all that the Tennis Center has to offer at special rates. IU students may also use the courts via our special walk-on rate of $5/hour at specific times each week. Connect with us if you have questions about the Tennis Center. We are happy to help find an option that works best for you!
The Aquatics is committed to providing an inclusive and adaptive-friendly environment for all participants. We offer flexible programming and accommodations to support a wide range of abilities, ensuring everyone can engage in aquatic activities comfortably and safely. Each pool is also equipped with a Portable Aquatic Lift (PAL) to provide safe, ADA-compliant access for individuals needing assistance entering and exiting the water.
Outdoor Adventures is committed to creating meaningful access to outdoor experiences through a participant-centered approach that includes pre-trip communication, flexible trip design, and individualized accommodation planning. While some activities present inherent physical or environmental barriers, our team works closely with participants to identify appropriate adjustments when possible and support varied ways of participation, recognizing that engaging with different needs often strengthens both the experience and the group. We continue to grow our capacity for adaptive programming and welcome early communication to better understand individual needs and explore opportunities together. Please contact us if you have questions.
