FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you are on a team, check with your captain to see if they are picking up your materials for your group or if you need to pick them up yourself.

Where can I park?
During packet pick up on Friday, Oct 20th you can park in the SRSC lot and just show them your race number to exit the lot. We suggest that you walk or car pool to the SRSC as parking at the venue will be restricted. IU Parking will not be ticketing during the race. Visit parking.iu.edu to see a parking map. Be sure to bring a towel or trashbags to sit on in your car on the way home!
What is the color?
The color consists of cornstarch super-charged with food grade coloring and a light fragrance. It's eco-friendly, but we wouldn't suggest eating it. We recommend that you wear some eye wear (sunglasses, swim goggles, etc.) to help keep the powder out; a bandana can be used to keep it off your teeth and out of your hair.
Where is the color?
There will be four color zones along the race route where you will be showered with color by our enthusiastic volunteers. There will be a color-free lane at each color zone in case you want to opt out of that experience. Then, at the post-race celebration there will be more powder that you can use to get extra colorful and help your friends get colored up as well!
What should I wear?
The key here is to wear white so the color can show up best! You will receive a white long-sleeve race shirt and sunglasses as part of your race packet. Don't wear anything that you really care about – including your shoes! Creativity is encouraged so don't be afraid to break out your tutu, crazy hat or anything else that inspires you to have fun! If you'll be bringing your phone, we recommend putting it in a plastic ziploc bag to prevent it from getting powder on the camera while you're taking pictures!
How do I clean up?
Your race shirt is long sleeved so that should help keep your body clean and you'll get sunglasses that you can use to protect your eyes. After the race is over, we suggest shaking off as much excess powder as possible. Baby wipes are effective in removing excess powder before showering. In order to get it out of your hair, we suggest adding a cream rinse while washing it!
How will I remember my experience?
We will have photographers along the route to capture the moment and we'll post everything online after the race. You are welcome to bring your phone or a camera to the event at your own risk (perhaps putting it in a Ziploc bag to protect it), but there are no guarantees that the powder won't get to it! You can also stop by the race photo zone next to the stage and have a before and after photo taken with your friends or team. If you take some of your own photos on race day, be sure to tweet them to @IURecSports or use #JB5K, add them to our Snapchat @iurecsports and use our JB5K geofilter throughout the race route, or post them on Instagram and tag the #JB5K so we can share them too.
Where will I find my time?
The only place that you will find your race time is on your watch. This is an untimed fitness run/walk just meant to be a fun day so there won't be any race clocks at this event!
